About Nicky Chadwick Art

Nicky Chadwick is an experienced artist who specialises in creating pet portraits, ranging from dogs and cats to smaller animals such as bunnies and reptiles – even including horses in her collection. She effectively utilised Linkedin to generate leads and win business, but had to put a lot of time and effort into this type of marketing. She came to Elysian Creative to ask for help in giving the website a fresh look and help it convert new clients more easily. Alongside this, she wanted to shift more focus into SEO and help her website generate leads more organically. We referred her to Sarah Powers from Marketing Per Hour to assist with keyword generation for this purpose, and focused on the website. As Nicky liked her current website and didn’t want to create a brand new one, we opted to update and make changes to her current site, keeping the content the same.

Updating the website

The aim of the website was to communicate more efficiently with Nicky’s target audience, generate more leads, and celebrate her business. As Nicky identified her main customers were men, we analysed the colour palette and stripped this back. Keeping some of the vibrant colours from Nicky’s logo – to keep this on brand – we chose to work with more subtle gradients for background sections, and change some of these to a more neutral looking grey. We used more of the dark blue from the logo, and used this for buttons, making it more masculine in appearance.

Using buttons instead of inline links, and using colours only in buttons and header sections, made it easier for users to focus on vital information. The emphasis was placed on the imagery (Nicky’s portraits) titles, and buttons. To reduce the number of clicks and make it easy for users to place an order, a form was added to each page. This form was expanded with the option to upload an image, saving Nicky herself valuable time in chasing all required information.

Finally, we analysed and rearranged all information, reducing the header menu to only core items. The homepage used an order that empathised all vital components, such as the products, the customer reviews and order form, followed by additional information for users to interact with.

The final result was a clean and easy to navigate site, that focuses on showing hi res beautiful portraits, tempting each user to place an order. Nicky was pleased with the results, and is intending to keep maintaining the site herself to improve her SEO further.
